As the last day of this month comes to an end, I just felt like looking upon what went by. It is that time of the year when I generally feel very nice, primarily because it is my birthday month. And the festive season of Dussehra and Diwali added extra flavour to it this year, but it was not a month of celebration for me.
It started out on a sad note with the passing away of a very close relative late September, the grief of losing a loved one, something I have seen before. Our near and dear ones gathered to be with the family. It coincided with the Dussehra celebrations which made it more painful. But then, as every low are followed by some highs, I had the best birthday of my life this month, something I will never forget ever in my life. It is not about a great gift or something out of the world but about sweet memories I will cherish throughout my life, it is about people who make you feel special and also the fact that they get together to celebrate a day which is important to you.
Then it was soon followed by a trip to Shimla, something which happened after almost two decades, just to celebrate the wedding of a very close buddy. He was my flatmate a couple of years back and I had seen his commitment. He being in love for so long and then seeing it materialise in to marriage was a great high. And I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Lots of dancing to Punjabi songs happened which reminded me of my engineering days at Hamirpur. Probably, I ended up pampering myself a bit, which is required sometimes.
I have a long weekend to spend, Monday being a holiday on account of Guru Nanak Jayanti. I remember that in the past, I always had some kind of studies to do, exams, entrances tests, etc but now that I am through with all kinds of educational stuffs, I guess I am looking forward to the India – Australia cricket match, finishing up the Chetan Bhagat novel, catching up with friends, possibly go for a latest flick, and hitting the gym. So there are loads to do.
